REFLECTIVE CONCLUSION

Throughout this module, I have progressed many different systems to develop my skills, understanding the industry, creating and generating professional promotions. Doing this I can became aware of what resources are available and where to search for career opportunities.

Documenting procedures, I have displayed and demonstrated the processes I produce, and what skills I have learnt and used to communicate, such as with clients, to then investigating the professional practice of others. Becoming a member of a variety of different professional communities, enabling me to have the options to inform and progress professionally.

As I approach the end of this module, due to the restricted word count, enabling me to give short and direct evidence, I have been able to display my creative process and the variety of artworks I create.

I have continued to update and work on the profile on artweb.com and have been pleased to have, displayed a cleaner, well presented and visually intriguing layout and colouring.

‘THE BUSINESS OF ART’

Reading the interviews through the pdf file, ‘the business of art’, this gave me an informed understanding of how professionals have been successful through developing their independent art forms, from this investigation it is clear that all of the interviewees have worked and progressed differently, but all having their own independent situations they have had to overcome or develop in to their succession. Having situations that haven’t been successful or they have had to change things to produce better results. I have read the interviews that I feel are more relevant to my current interests and specialism.

I have screenshot some of the documented interviews that I feel are relevant…

Below are parts of the documented interviews, ‘Chris Kirkland’ the founder of ‘artweb.com’, the website that I have a profile to and have developed for this module. I have documented these parts to show some of the significant findings also giving evidence of the information, I do not want to expand too much as this module is limited on a word count, I have documented these to address the investigation in to understanding the stories of other professionals, and how this could help inform my progression.

REFLECTION

Working on a variety of different things through this module has given me a variety of advantages where I have been able to improve for my professional practice, exploring different promotional aspects, developing and generating a diverse range of procedures to calculate the requirement for this module.

I have been working on the site for the artweb profile where I had not been maintaining, this I feel could have been a better process if I had continued to have develop this.

I think the next stage of this procedure is to explore professionals and how they have progressed through the creative industry, from this I can understand and assess the criteria that might be necessary for my progress.  The email I received from art professionals, is something which I may use to investigate in to professionals and their progressions.

‘THE BUSINESS OF ART’ (eBOOK)

Being a part of a membership have given me the opportunity to source this, a collection of documented interviews addressing how individuals have progressed in the industry. This investigation gave me good informed content that I can refer to – fortunately I can use this without having to create my own primary research in to how individuals have progressed in this industry.

From this I aim to understand and become aware of how individuals have progressed, what sorts of things are required and I want to research what all this is about, ‘the business of art’. I will develop my interpretations and analyse my findings and post a blog after I have read some or all of the significant findings.

REFLECTION

Developing through this module and documenting the different parts, I noticed that I have been exploring different sectors of the industry, such as looking at different processes compared to within the fine art sector. This could be a good thing and answers criteria on the module descriptor.

Reflecting on my process, thinking about how to overcome challenges with in the fine art sector, that may be put forward as I progress professionally, these could be; limited work experiences, not having enough knowledge or skills also not know about other techniques and processes.

Understanding this I recognise as now I have begun to expand my portfolio, developing different types of artworks, illustrative, graphical etc. this could help face the challenges that I could face; this gives me the chance to gain wider intelligence of different sectors of the creative industry, processes and communications. This can then develop and push in to alternative directions.

Even though this could be seen as bad practice, I feel it mean I can maintain a fluent appreciation between each division of the creative industry. I like the idea with gathering all the different areas of the industry and connecting them, I do not feel there is much difference between the basics of each sector. Studying the multi-disciplinary course before starting this degree gave me the opportunity to become aware of the differences, and not so different aspects between each section of the creative industry.

MEMBERSHIPS

Registering to services that offer information about the industry is highly important, giving resources for available future jobs, careers paths. Also giving notice for upcoming events and current news in the industry to be aware of the processes and developments. I have linked to these networks to give opportunity, knowledge and investigation – doing this enables me to become aware of the most successful positions that will suit my skills, current understandings  and intentions.

Working on this module, gives me the chance to research and analyse the employment areas, where and what is required, how to build self promotions and work on my professional skills, this also means working on my practical skills and developing my standards of practice.

I have screen shot some of the emails, I receive regularly which I read to understand and inform my progression in to a professional. Being subscribed to these messaging groups allows me to have information and the ability to read in to part of the industry to inform my intentions for progression and development, for example the email from ‘artweb’ offering the chance to read the dialogue of interviews of how they have integrated in to a career in the creative industry.

JACK17.ARTWEB.COM DEVELOPMENT

I have continued to develop the artweb.com account that I have, thinking about a professional presentation and creating something that displays my work and shows my work as for what I have created and explored. I have now reached the limit of photographs I can uploads, so for this I will delete images that have been on there longer, and swap the images on a regular basis as I progress with working on the account.

HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF THE SITE NOW…

The main changes this time, I have moved images from the home page and displayed my business cards and put a single image of one of the most recent artworks I had developed. This then gave more to the gallery on the site, which I could display the artworks there.

ARTWEB (jack17.artweb.com)

I have been working on the network website ‘artweb’, where I created a profile a few years back, creating this at the time I did not use very often, and did not promote it, due to concentrating on my practical developments.

Recently I now began to work on this network, adding more recent artworks, and changing the template of the website layout. Doing this to give a more professional representation, and a creative image.

BELOW IS jack17.artweb.com

This is how I left the site, while concentrating on other things, I feel as though I should have continued working on this and this would have been more successful and probably worked in my favour. However I now can develop the profile now.Fullscreen capture 18042017 211926.bmp

I WILL NOW DOCUMENT THE WORKING PROGRESSING OF THE PROFILE NOW.

Creating this I have considered how to professionally create something that shows me as an artist, but also how my work is represented, I have moved older works and other works that I have worked on to a ‘gallery’ section on the site, I have removed sections of writing that I feel are irrelevant and do not support much.

I think the layout, colours, and general aesthetics look more professional than the previous look. As I develop the profile through progression I will add more artworks, that I feel represent more of what type of artworks and style I work with.

ARTWEB.COM

This is a site that I had made using a networking system called ‘artweb.com’ – this hasn’t been successful, due to me not promoting it, as I have not been too interested in this becoming noticed, I have been more interested in working on my style, knowledge and backing my influences up.

I created this site a few years back when I was studying a level 3 course in Art & Design Multidisciplinary.

Today thinking about the module I have today, I feel as though updating this or working on it could be something that could be useful. Some of the stuff on there is not the sort of artist that I am, also some of the information is also not who I am today.

Below is the site currently.
